Today in my studies I was pondering as I was reading in The Peace Giver about captivity. What creates us to be held captive with in ourselves. The answer is our limiting beliefs. Fear is what causes us to restrict ourselves from progression. Therefore we are held captive of our choices. Last post I riffed on agency being the choice to choose God. And by choosing God I mean choosing love and breaking through our limiting beliefs.
We become restricted and captive because we lose a desire to choose God and actually choose to run from God. Take a look at Adam and Eve for example. They were able to justify their choices of partaking of the forbidden fruit because their actions were linked to their emotions. It becomes easier for us to justify our sin because it is anchored to our emotions. Look further in to what happened. They became captive in to Satan's hands as he actually got them to hide from God when He came to talk to Adam and Eve. Satan said "run, hide yourselves, for you are naked." (not exact wording cause im riffing in my head right now.) God said in verse 9 of chapter 3 in Genesis "Where art thou?" and in verse 10 Adam admits that he hid himself from the Lord because he was scared. He followed FEAR and turned from the Lord. God even asked why he had partaken of the fruit and Adam and blamed it on Eve. Eve then blamed it on Satan as she said "the serpent beguiled me". Only when they took responsibility for their actions were they set free. John 8:32 "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free". (The truth also might piss you off a little bit) Fear is a false belief being passed off for truth. We create fear through our sins. I'm talking down to the very basic sin that does not outwardly seem to effect the lives of other people, but more deeply your own life which then in turn effects others lives of those around you. Love and Fear, God and Satan, Good and Bad, Positive and Negative.
I very specifically use the word "and" because it is not 2 sides. It is one continuum. Either you are getting more positive and moving towards God or you are getting more negative and moving towards Satan. And you get more negative and further from God by conditioning your negative habits over time.
If we wish to have more freedom we must awaken our subconscious mind and with all of our false beliefs that we have believed to be true for so long, we must change those beliefs and condition new positive beliefs. Doing this and creating a more positive life sets you free and increases our individual happiness level. It then allows us to find our true "ness" and use our "ness" to serve others. When we are not serving others we are sinning, creating fear, and actually taking happiness out of our lives.
